Origins

This image is a black-and-white line art illustration inspired by the viral video and photo of Punch, a young Japanese macaque (snow monkey) at Ichikawa City Zoo, who became an internet sensation for dragging his favorite plush monkey toy everywhere he went.

• The Meme: The internet embraced the baby monkey holding onto his plushie as a wholesome yet deeply relatable symbol of holding onto comfort items, emotional support, and raw emotional vulnerability.
• The Aesthetic: Rendered in a crisp, manga-esque sketch style, this graphic transforms a viral, wholesome animal moment into a minimalist indie fashion piece.
